In a powerful collaboration to uplift young women, PAGEONE, Binibining Pilipinas, and World Vision have come together to support the #GirlsCan campaign, an initiative aimed at empowering Filipino girls. Launched by World Vision in celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child in October, the campaign seeks to address the unique challenges faced by young girls in the Philippines and provide them with the tools to unlock their potential.
World Vision, a child-focused organization, has long been at the forefront of promoting the rights of children. With the #GirlsCan campaign, which aligns with the global 1000 Girls initiative, the organization emphasizes the importance of education, community support, and financial assistance in helping girls overcome adversity. The campaign also encourages Filipinos to take part in making a difference by sponsoring girls, contributing to their education, and ensuring they have access to opportunities that can change the course of their lives.
The involvement of PAGEONE and Binibining Pilipinas further strengthens this advocacy. PAGEONE, known for its expertise in public relations and integrated marketing, supports causes that foster growth and empowerment. Through this partnership, they aim to amplify the message of #GirlsCan, reaching broader audiences and transforming more lives.
PAGEONE Group has taken a significant step in supporting the empowerment of Filipino girls by partnering with World Vision for this revolutionary campaign. The Group has signed up as a media and PR partner, committing its popular media titles as advocacy platforms for the campaign. Believing in the noble goals of #GirlsCan, PAGEONE also announced a PHP100,000 donation, which will benefit hundreds of Filipino children and further the campaign’s efforts to address the unique challenges faced by girls, from poverty and discrimination to violence and exploitation.
Dr. Ron Jabal, APR, and CEO of PAGEONE Group, emphasized the critical role of education in transforming the lives of young girls.
“On behalf of PAGEONE, I stand before you today as a firm believer in the boundless potential of girls and the transformative power of education. Despite the many challenges they face, education is the key to unlocking their future. When girls can, girls will—and the world wins.”
Dr. Jabal highlighted the stark realities faced by Filipino girls, including child labor, teenage pregnancy, and sexual abuse. He passionately urged for action:
“An educated girl is more likely to stand up for her rights, earn a higher income, and uplift her community. When we educate girls, we not only transform their lives but also create a ripple effect that benefits families, communities, and nations.”
Jun Godornes, Interim National Director of World Vision, also expressed the importance of the campaign, saying:
“Women are gifted and talented, and they deserve the same access to education and opportunities. Year after year, the #GirlsCan movement grows stronger thanks to partners like you, who recognize the incredible potential of our future generation.”
Meanwhile, Binibining Pilipinas, the country’s premier beauty pageant organization, plays an essential role in shaping modern Filipina role models who exemplify poise, intelligence, and a commitment to making a difference in society, namely Bb. Pilipinas International 2024 Myrna Esguerra, Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2024 Jasmin Bungay, Bb. Pilipinas 2024 1st Runner Up Christal Jean Dela Cruz, and Bb. Pilipinas 2024 2nd Runner Up Trisha Martinez.
Bb. Pilipinas International 2024 Myrna Esguerra shared her heartfelt story of being raised by a single mother: “Now that I have this platform, I can touch young girls’ lives. Hearing from them inspires me, and supporting children through World Vision has made my journey even more meaningful.”
Bb. Pilipinas 2024 1st Runner Up Christal Jean Dela Cruz added: “We must ensure that every girl is given the right opportunities. We can echo their voices because girls can.”
Bb. Pilipinas 2024 2nd Runner Up Trisha Martinez stated: “We cannot deny the fact that young girls are still facing many issues. Now is the perfect time to create solutions and provide someone who will listen to them. We are all human, and every girl deserves the right opportunities.”
Jasmin Bungay, Bb. Pilipinas 2024 Globe, articulated the significance of education in empowerment: “…we are very happy that we are partnering with World Vision to address barriers that hinder women from living their full potential… ‘A woman who does not realize her value in this world… gives the world a less place than what it could be.’”
Together, these organizations are forging a path towards gender equality and empowerment, showing that when communities come together, girls can thrive, overcome obstacles, and reach their full potential. Through this collective effort, they are not only raising awareness but also providing tangible solutions to uplift the next generation of empowered women. The partnership between World Vision, PAGEONE, and Binibining Pilipinas stands as a beacon of hope, inspiring others to take action and invest in the future of young girls.
